The Green Bay Packers will get back to work next week, even though they won’t be in full pads. Here’s my question for you today: What information are you looking for in these early training camp practices?
Here are a couple of things I will be paying attention to:

Injuries
On paper, everyone should be back other than Micah Parsons, Jordon Riley and Tucker Kraft (who should be good to go pretty early in camp) based on the injury recovery timelines we know about. If guys like Zach Tom, Devonte Wyatt and Kamal Hadden aren’t back out there, my ears are going to be poking up.
Roster
Here are just some assorted things I want to keep an eye on roster-wise:
-
Is Pierre Strong Jr. or Damien Martinez getting in the mix with the 1s at all? If the Packers lose a ball-carrier, whoever has the edge there is probably going to make the 53-man roster.
-
Is Y tight end Luke Lachey getting looks with the 1s? After Kraft, Lachey might be the second-best option as an in-line blocker that the team has right now. Maybe he steals a roster spot (or the team keeps four at the position).
-
How is the defensive line rotation working? We still aren’t sure who will be the third starter next to Wyatt and Javon Hargrave…or who will be playing nose tackle in odd fronts.
-
What does the cornerback rotation look like, assuming Benjamin St-Juste is back healthy? St-Juste missed minicamp practices with an undisclosed injury, giving all those opportunities to Carrington Valentine and Brandon Cisse opposite Keisean Nixon. How much of a chance does St-Juste have, really, to win the job?
-
Everything special teams. Is Skyy Moore doing enough? Who is starting on which units? Is Trey Smack playing well? All of it.
