There will be no more wondering what to call Paddy Pimblett’s recent spectacular submission.
After getting the party started with his entrance at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Pimblett (24-4 MMA, 8-1 UFC) quickly gave everyone something more to cheer about after putting Benoit Saint Denis to sleep with a unique D’Arce choke/Peruvian necktie variation in just 52 seconds.

For some reason, Saint Denis (17-4 MMA, 9-4) thought it best to immediately shoot in on Pimblett, bringing the fight right to where “The Baddy” is the best. Naturally, that didn’t work out too well. Pimblett transitioned from a guillotine choke into a D’Arce, before throwing both legs over the top like a Peruvian necktie.
Since the highlight finish, some have had no clue what to call the hold. Some have dubbed it “The Padlock,” which is legit. However, the man himself has named it as a play on the delicious Thai noodle dish.
“The Pad-Tie👔😉,” Pimblett wrote on Instagram.
What do you think? Is this a good name for one of the more unique submissions in UFC history?

While you’re thinking about it, check out Charles Oliveira‘s similar submission from 2014 against Hatsu Hioki. The submissions look similar at a quick glance, but the choking arms are placed differently: Pimblett’s lock comes under the neck in a D’Arce-style, while Oliveira’s lock comes under the outside arm, making it an anaconda choke. Both are incredibly slick necktie variations.
