LAS VEGAS – Justin Gaethje has been in some battles and plenty of wars. But what Paddy Pimblett has in mind is incomparable.
In response to a recent assertion by Gaethje (26-5 MMA, 9-5 UFC) that he’s gunning to do violent things to him, Pimblett (23-3 MMA, 7-0 UFC) told MMA Junkie and other reporters at a UFC 324 pre-fight news conference Wednesday that he will do what no other has done.

“I’ve seen an even funnier (clip) yesterday saying he wants to make me piss me pants,” Pimblett said. “That one made me laugh because he had done it to someone in his first-ever fight. But that’s our job. We’re in there to hurt each other. We’re not having a pillow fight. We’re having a fight. I know I’m going to hurt him. I know I am. If he wants to try and hurt me that’s what we’re here for. That’s the name of the game.”
Pimblett has expressed his respect for Gaethje as a competitor since the first mention. Their interim lightweight clash is not one he seems to be taking lightly. That said, Pimblett said he’s not intimidated, particularly when he’s had a long runway to the fight.
“He won’t be physically the same after this fight. I will,” Pimblett said. “I will be exactly the same. I’m going to put a beatdown on him like he’s never received. I can promise you that. But it was just another fight to me. When a contract with a name gets sent to me, I sign it. I don’t turn down no fight. I step up, and I fight the person whose name is on the contract. I thought I was going to fight Justin in October in Abu Dhabi, but I think he turned it down. Now, there’s a belt on the line. He’s taken the fight. It’s nice to actually fight someone I thought I was going to fight a while back.”
