Ahead of tipoff, Paige Bueckers, Azzi Fudd and Aaliyah Edwards arrived with a clear reminder of their shared college roots. The WNBA spotlighted the trio on social media, celebrating the Huskies bond before Dallas faced Connecticut on Prime Video.
UConn stars reunite before Wings-Sun game
The league posted a pregame video featuring Bueckers, Fudd and Edwards, writing:
It was a fitting caption for three players who helped define one of the most recognizable eras of UConn women’s basketball before taking their careers to the WNBA.
Bueckers and Fudd now share the backcourt in Dallas, while Edwards has become part of Connecticut’s young frontcourt. Even on opposite sides Thursday night, the connection between the three former Huskies remained a major storyline before the game.
Bueckers and Fudd leading Dallas’ rise
Dallas entered the matchup at 11-8, firmly in the Western Conference playoff race. Bueckers has been one of the league’s most productive guards this season, averaging 19.9 points, 5.9 assists and 3.8 rebounds while shooting 51.3% from the field and 39.3% from 3-point range.

Fudd has also made an immediate impact as a rookie, averaging 13.6 points while shooting 38.4% from beyond the arc. She has added defensive value as well, averaging 1.8 steals and 1.1 blocks per game. Together, the former UConn teammates have helped make Dallas one of the WNBA’s most compelling teams.

Edwards looks to help Sun extend streak
On the other side, Edwards entered Thursday averaging 9.7 points and 3.8 rebounds for Connecticut. The Sun have struggled overall at 4-15, but they came into the game riding a two-game winning streak after victories over the Chicago Sky and Washington Mystics.

Edwards has been part of that recent push, giving Connecticut energy, versatility and another young piece to build around. For UConn fans, Thursday’s Wings-Sun matchup offered more than a regular-season game. It was a showcase of former Huskies now carving out important roles across the WNBA.
