Paige Bueckers was welcomed with open arms in Dallas as she prepares to play her rookie season with the Wings. After a successful four-year tenure with the UConn Huskies that finished with a national championship, Bueckers was selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft.
The team held a press conference today to introduce the star guard to the media.

Bueckers received gifts, shared her excitement to play in the same city as one of her favorite players, Kyrie Irving, and more.
Wings general manager Curt Miller also expressed his happiness to have one of the best prospects in league history ready to join forces with his star Arike Ogunbowale.

Miller set a huge goal for the player, who was all smiles when the executive explained they will work to improve her numbers so that she averages a minimum of 50% from the floor, 40% from deep and 90% from the free-throw line.
“Exciting, exciting moment,” Miller said. “Paige obviously comes off a national championship, one of the most decorated collegiate players and one of the most efficient players in college basketball history.

“For her career, she’s over 50% field goal, over 40 from the 3-point line and nearly 90% from the foul line, so nearly for her career, 50/40/85. So media, I know every practice that you’re gonna want to talk to Paige at the end of practice, we will be shooting extra foul shots so we can get to that 90 so she can be the 50/40/90, but one special player and special addition to Dallas.”
Bueckers is projected to become one of the best players in the league. She entered the W as one of the most successful college players of her generation, but the bar will be higher once the 2025 season starts.
Becoming a 50/40/90 player is a huge honor for players, but it’s not easy to achieve. In the NBA, legends such as Larry Bird, Reggie Miller, Dirk Nowitzki and Steve Nash are members of this exclusive club, as well as Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry.
