It wasn’t much of a surprise, but the Dallas Wings made it official by selecting Paige Bueckers with the No. 1 overall pick in Monday night’s WNBA draft.
Bueckers has a couple of weeks to get settled in Arlington, Texas, before Wings training camp begins on April 28. But she’s not heading there just yet.

Following Monday night’s draft in New York City, Bueckers stuck around a few extra days and appeared on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” where she sat down for an interview with Robin Roberts.
Roberts asked Bueckers who she’s looking forward to matching up against in her rookie WNBA season. The 6-foot guard said her former teammates Liv (Olivia Nelson-Ododa), Aaliyah (Edwards), Nika (Muhl) and everybody else.
“Obviously, all the UConn alums — my former teammates Liv, Aaliyah, Nika — and everybody else, and everybody, honestly, I’m just so excited to compete,” Bueckers said. “It’s been a childhood dream, and just to be able to share that, and really enjoy that experience.”
Bueckers’ first matchup against one of her former teammates she named comes in the second game of the season, when the Wings travel to Seattle to face Muhl and the Storm on May 19.

She’ll then face off against Edwards and the Connecticut Sun on May 27, followed by a meeting with Nelson-Ododa and the Washington Mystics on June 22.
