In a postgame photo carousel, Nelson-Ododa included several snapshots from the Sun’s recent matchup against the Wings. The highlight of the post was a touching image of her hugging Bueckers on the court, a brief but emotional reunion between two players who spent two seasons together at UConn.
The image caught Bueckers’ attention. She reshared the photo on her Instagram Story, adding three heart-face emojis.
“My livvypooh🥰,” Bueckers commented on the original post.
The public display of friendship comes during a challenging stretch for Bueckers. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft is currently in the league’s concussion protocol.

She suffered the injury during a May 29 game against the Chicago Sky after a collision with Courtney Vandersloot. Bueckers has already missed two games and is set to miss a third when the Wings face the Los Angeles Sparks on Friday night.

Despite the team’s 1-7 record, Bueckers has shown early promise, averaging 14.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 6.7 assists per game.
Her standout performance came on May 27 in her return to Connecticut. In that game against the Sun, she scored a career-high 21 points. The Wings won that game 109-87, marking Bueckers’ first WNBA victory.
While fans wait for Bueckers’ return to the court, this brief Instagram exchange reminded everyone of the bond that carries beyond basketball, especially between two former Huskies turned WNBA stars.
