Former Bellator champion Patchy Mix is set to debut on a UFC pay-per-view event in June.
Patchy Mix wanted to be released from the PFL to be more active, and it didn’t take long for him to land a fight.
On June 7 at UFC 316, Mix (20-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) will make his UFC debut against Mario Bautista. The bantamweight fight fills out the pay-per-view event taking place at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. The event is headlined by a title fight rematch in the 135-pound division between champion Merab Dvalishvili vs. former champ Sean O’Malley.
Mix will fill in for Marlon Vera, who withdrew from the original matchup against Bautista (15-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC). The promotion officially announced the bout during the UFC Fight Night 256 broadcast. The news was first reported by MagicM MMA Bets on X (formerly Twitter).
Former Bellator champ Mix, 31, was recently granted a full release from the PFL. Widely considered to be one of the best bantamweights in the world outside of the UFC, now has the opportunity to prove himself in the Las Vegas-based promotion. Mix has been on the shelf since May 2024, when he picked up a split decision win over Magomed Magomedov to defend his Bellator crown. Due to uncertainty and inactivity following PFL’s acquisition of Bellator, Mix made public pleas to be booked or released.
Bautista, 31, currently holds the No. 1 spot in the promotion’s bantamweight rankings. He was originally set to face Vera in May, but the fight was rescheduled for UFC 316. After Vera’s withdrawal, Bautista needed a replacement opponent and found one in Mix. In Bautista’s last outing, he picked up a controversial split decision win over Jose Aldo at UFC 307, extending his winning streak to seven.
