WNBA superstar Caitlin Clark has been putting up some MVP-caliber numbers so far this season, including back-to-back dominant performances last week. Unfortunately for her, that was not enough to earn a Player of the Week honor.
On Tuesday, the WNBA announced its Players of the Week Award for the Eastern and Western conferences. Despite her dominance, Clark was not one of the recipients. The awards went to Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson and New York Liberty star Breanna Stewart.

Wilson finished the week with 25 points per game, 5.6 rebounds per game, and two blocks per game, while Stewart averaged 23 points per game, nine rebounds per game, and two blocks per game.
While Wilson and Stewart did have strong performances last week, Clark’s numbers seemed to be strong enough for her to deserve the award.
Clark’s Dominant Week
So for this season, Clark is putting up MVP-caliber numbers, and she absolutely stuffed the statsheet during the team’s two most recent games.
During Friday’s game against the Washington Mystics, Clark finished the game with 32 points, 10 assists, and four rebounds after a prolific fourth-quarter performance to send the game to overtime. On Sunday, Clark picked up right where she left off with yet another double-double, finishing with 21 points, 10 assists, and seven rebounds in just 23 minutes of action.

During those games, Clark became the first player in WNBA history to record multiple games of 30 or more points and 10 or more assists, and she now has the most games of 20 or more points and 10 or more assists than any player in WNBA history.
So she wasn’t just dominant, she also made history.
Fans Not Happy
Needless to say, fans were not happy that Clark was snubbed for this award, as they believed that she put up better numbers. than Stewart, who won the award for the Eastern Conference.
“Really? You had a player that made WNBA history and averaged 25/9/5 (BEST stats in the EASTERN Conference) all in the same week and that player, with a team record which was 1 less win than New York is not good enough for Player of the Week?” one fan wrote in a post on X.

“CC makes history & doesn’t get player of the week. Pathetic favoritism,” another fan added.
“Anything and everything to minimize Caitlin Clark even with a power stat line of 25/9/5 and translates into an offensive production of 42 points per game,” someone else wrote.
“The player with the most powerful offensive stat line 25/9/5 has been denied,” another fan added.
“The WNBA is a joke. Players of the week were measured by stat and performance. Caitlin Clark stat line of 25/9/5 is far better than the two,” someone else added.
We’ll have to see whether or not Clark can keep up this dominance – and whether or not she starts to get recognition from the league for it.
