UFC Vegas 106 lost its co-main event just minutes before the fighters were scheduled to walk to the octagon.
The fight between Paul Craig and Rodolfo Bellato was scrapped from the card after Bellato suffered some sort of medical issue that left him unable to compete. The unfortunate news was announced during the UFC Vegas 106 broadcast on Saturday.
Details surrounding Bellato’s medical issue were not revealed but the fight with Craig is expected to get rescheduled for a new date in the very near future.
It’s still tough news for both fighters, especially with Bellato traveling from Brazil and Craig coming to Las Vegas from his home in Scotland.
Undefeated through two fights in the UFC, Bellato was looking for his biggest win to date with the matchup against Craig. Overall, Bellato sports a 12-2-1 record with his draw coming against Jimmy Crute back at UFC 312 in February.
As for Craig, he was returning to his old stomping grounds at light heavyweight following a three-fight losing streak at 185 pounds, which included setbacks against Bo Nickal, Caio Borralho and Brendan Allen.
A new date for Craig vs. Bellato is expected to be announced soon with lightweights Sodiq Yusuff and Mairon Santos now shifting into the co-main event slot at UFC Vegas 106.
