When Ja’Juan Seider made the lateral move from Penn State to Notre Dame, it was viewed as a big coaching win for the Irish.

The addition of the former Nittany Lions running backs coach is looking like it could pay dividends on the recruiting trail as well. Current PSU commit Messiah Mickens has been on flip watch since the move, and now that has gotten even hotter.

On Friday morning the nation’s No. 169 overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings scheduled an official visit to Notre Dame. It’s becoming very evident that the relationship between the two is pushing for Mickens to highly consider making the move from the Penn State program to joining the Irish.

It may come down to which 2026 running backs want to commit first, as Notre Dame has multiple targets that are highly considering joining the recruiting class. You’d have to expect that Mickens would be a take if he ends up flipping. This surely is a recruitment to monitor.
