Penn State was expecting to have a busy weekend with a junior day event on campus. As is typically the case, Penn State made sure to send a handful of recruiting targets home from their visits with a formal scholarship offer. Among the offers handed out by James Franklin and his staff was one to Ashton Blatt, a three-star edge rusher from western Pennsylvania.
Blatt shared the news of his latest scholarship offer on social media. The Central Catholic standout from Pittsburgh already has a number of offers in hand as he goes through his recruiting process. The Penn State offer is Blatt’s sixth from a Big Ten program; Indiana, Michigan State, Minnesota, UCLA, and Wisconsin are the others. Blatt also holds offers from Pittsburgh, Syracuse, West Virginia, Duke and others.
Blatt has told recruiting outlets this is an important offer for him. The Pennsylvania native, who measures 6′-4″ and 230 pounds, shared his enthusiasm for his Penn State offer on social media as well. Penn State may be the emerging favorite after extending an offer. While there are no official recruiting predictions on record in the industry just yet, the O3 recruiting prediction machine is giving Penn State a 53.2% chance to receive Blatt’s commitment. West Virginia has the second-best odds with a calculated 12.5% chance of winning Blatt’s commitment.
