Penn State opened up the spring window with their first practice of the year on Tuesday. While these sessions serve as an opportunity for the team to get acclimated with each other, they also allow teams to host prospective recruits on campus visits.
The Nittany Lions have a slew of prospects already lined up for visits over the next few weeks as they try to land their first commitment from the class of 2027. It seems like they have the inside track to a handful of them, and now they’ll add another high-schooler to their list of potential suitors.

Three-star safety DJ Davis took a trip to State College yesterday to spend the day with coaches and get an up-close view of the team’s spring practice. After some productive conversations with new head coach Matt Campbell and the rest of the staff, the multi-sport athlete revealed that he has been re-offered by Penn State.
Being a three-star recruit, Davis might not offer much optimism on the surface, but fans should look no further than Zion Tracy as his ideal trajectory. Also a three-star recruit, Tracy has received some tremendous praise from Campbell in recent days, with the first-year leader calling the cornerback, “One of the best football players maybe I have coached.
That type of belief in a player can do wonders for their confidence, so now fans and the media are itching to see what Tracy can do. Davis might not play the same position, but hopefully he can garner similar praise and rise far above his initial ranking.

Former safety Zakee Wheatley is projected to be an early-round NFL Draft pick this year, and he also joined the Nittany Lions as a three-star prospect. While he wasn’t brought in or developed by Campbell, we know it’s possible for Davis to grow into a much better player than scouts expect.
