STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – Penn State senior tight end Tyler Warren was tabbed to the Biletnikoff Award watch list Wednesday.
Warren is coming off a 17-reception, 224-yard performance at Southern California Oct. 12.
The Biletnikoff Award annually recognizes the college football season’s outstanding Football Bowl Subdivision receiver. Any player, regardless of position, who catches a pass is eligible for the award.
At Southern California, Warren set a Penn State and Big Ten tight end record with 224 receiving yards, while joining Northwestern’s Jon Harvey (208 vs. Michigan, 1982) as the only Big Ten tight ends to go over 200 receiving yards in a game.
His 17 receptions are a Penn State record and tie the FBS tight end record, set by New Mexico’s Emilio Vallez in 1967 and matched by Harvey in 1982.
Warren’s 224 receiving yards are the second-most by a Penn State player, trailing only Jahan Dotson’s 242 yards at Maryland in 2021. He was named a William V. Campbell Trophy semifinalist and is on the Mackey Award watch list.
He owns 89 receptions for 1,119 yards and 15 touchdowns, while adding three rushing scores and a passing touchdown at Penn State. Warren has 16 career receptions of 20-plus yards and three career 100-yard receiving games.
Warren’s 15 career touchdown receptions are good for 11th all-time at Penn State and tied for second among Penn State tight ends with Mike Gesicki (15; 2014-17), trailing only Pat Freiermuth (16; 2018-20). He has the most total touchdowns (18; 15 receiving, 3 rushing) all-time among Penn State tight ends.
He is third among Penn State tight ends all-time with 89 career receptions and fifth with 1,119 career receiving yards. He is one of four active FBS tight ends (only Big Ten tight end) with 85-plus receptions, 1,100-plus receiving yards and 15-plus receiving touchdowns in his career.
In 2024, he has 40 receptions for 513 yards and four touchdowns. Among FBS tight ends in 2024, Warren ranks second in receiving yards (513; first in Big Ten) and receiving yards per game (85.5; first), third in 100-yard receiving games (2; first) and receptions (40; first), fourth in receiving touchdowns (4; first) and fifth in yards per reception (12.8; first).
He’s also tied for third among FBS tight ends with 16 receptions of 15-plus yards this season and ranks fourth in percentage of catches for first downs (685) among FBS tight ends with 30-plus catches.
The Biletnikoff Award is named after Fred Biletnikoff, a member of the pro and college football halls of fame, who was a consensus All-America receiver at Florida State and an All-Pro receiver for the Oakland Raiders.
The semifinalists, finalists and award recipient are selected by the highly distinguished Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee, a group of 600 prominent college football journalists, commentators, announcers, Biletnikoff Award winners and other former receivers.
The Biletnikoff Award will announce its semifinalists Nov. 18 and finalists Nov. 26.
The winner of the Biletnikoff Award will be announced live on the Home Depot College Football Awards Dec. 12.
