Peter Laviolette Holds Rangers Accountable For Lack Of Toughness

The New York Rangers have not only been losing a lot of games, but they are showing a lack of urgency in the process.

Through this most recent stretch where the Rangers have lost nine out of their past 12 games, the team has been playing with a lack of heart and toughness.

They’ve looked dejected and demoralized as something needs to change. Peter Laviolette held all of his players accountable to play with more passion.

“It’s only coming from inside the room. I think the players know that we need to play a better brand of hockey,” Laviolette said via Mollie Walker of The New York Post. “We can’t just look at one person. Everybody’s got to be accountable to that.

“You get into these messes with everybody and you get out of them with everybody, as well. I do think that that’s an important part of it. You need everybody on the rope tonight.”

Opposing teams need to fear playing against the Rangers, and right now that’s just simply not the case.

Last season, the Rangers had a physical identity and acted as one cohesive unit, which led to them winning the Presidents’ Trophy.

The problem this year is the Rangers have completely lost their identity that made them so successful.

Hopefully, Laviolette’s message wakes this team up, or else the Rangers are in for a world of trouble.
