PFL fighters go off on each other ahead of Dubai showdown

There is no love lost between Caolan Loughran and Lewis McGrillen.

Bantamweights Loughran (10-2) and McGrillen (12-1) will square off Oct. 3 at PFL Champions Series: Dubai from Coca-Cola Arena.

Ahead of their clash, ex-UFC fighter Loughran and 2024 PFL Europe bantamweight tournament winner McGrillen took some shots at each other during a joint interview on MMA Junkie.

“You’re getting slept, bro,” McGrillen told Loughran. “You think you can go through me and say there’s levels to this? Not a chance. Not a chance, mate. You’re boring. Your personality is boring. You as a person are boring.”

“I’m gonna finish you,” responded former Cage Warriors champion Loughran, who has seven career wins by stoppage.

“You ain’t going to finish anything,” fired back McGrillen. “You can’t finish a wank, bro.”

Loughran and McGrillen have trained together before, and the Irish fighter reminded him what happened when they did.

“I submitted you the last time we sparred in MMA,” Loughran said.

“And I nearly knocked you out with 30 percent power, so it doesn’t really matter,” McGrillen responded. “You were on skates, mate. It doesn’t matter. And I pulled back. I’m not gonna try and kill you, you know what I mean?”

After splitting his four UFC appearances, Loughran will be making his PFL debut against McGrillen. He expects both their past experience training together and the difference in level of competition to play a factor.

“I don’t hold onto that win,” Loughran said. “You’re saying that I never finished anyone. I came in from Cage Warriors undefeated, all finishes, at your level.”
