KENT — The Kent State Golden Flashes are happy Cameron Williams will be on their side this time.

Kent State announced the signing of former Portland forward a few hours before the transfer portal closed on April 21. The Cape Girardeau, Missouri native will join the Flashes for the 2026-27 season.

Oregon’s Kwame Evans Jr., left, and Jackson Shelstad battle Portland’s Cameron Williams, center, for a rebound during the second half at Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene Dec. 17, 2025.

Williams scored 20 points in a win over Kent State on Dec. 14. He scored a season-high 25 points against Willamette on Nov. 3 and averaged 10.6 points and 4.6 rebounds in 31 games (28 starts).

“I am extremely excited to add Cameron to out roster,” Flashes head coach Rob Senderoff said in a statement. “He brings competitive toughness, versatility and has a very high basketball IQ. He won a JUCO national championship two years ago and played in a very good West Coast Conference. I can’t wait to get Cam with us here this summer.”

Williams spent the 2024-25 season at Trinity Valley Community College where he won the NJCAA national championship. He played at Moberly Community College during the 2023-24 season.
