The resolve of Purdue women’s basketball was on display Thursday night at Bryce Jordan Center.

Coming off a program low, where the Boilermakers lost at Ohio State by 52 points on Sunday, two sophomores torched the nets in a bounce back victory.

Rashunda Jones and Sophie Swanson combined for 61 points in a 92-85 win at Penn State.

Jones, who scored 32, and Swanson (29) are the first Boilermaker duo to each score 29 points since current head coach Katie Gearlds and Shereka Wright did so against Iowa on Feb. 10, 2004.

The Boilermakers (10-18, 3-14 Big Ten) used a 23-13 advantage in the second quarter on Thursday night, then held their ground on the road.

Jones was a stat stuffer with 8 assists and 6 rebounds in addition to her 32 points. She was a perfect 9 of 9 from the free throw line. Swanson made 5 of 6 3s and 10 of 13 field goals overall en route to a career-high.

Lana McCarthy added 11 points and 8 rebounds.

Purdue closes the regular season at 2 p.m. Sunday at Mackey Arena against rival Indiana.
