It became official over this past weekend that Ty Simpson signed his rookie deal with the Los Angeles Rams. It took some time, but once fellow rookie QB Fernando Mendoza signed his deal this last week, it was clear that Simpson would be signing his deal in time, and that time came right before the Rams started up their training camp.
Now, Rams’ fans can sit back and hope their team stays healthy as they practice and prepare for the upcoming season. Will Simpson get any playing time during the preseason? If not, then Simpson may not see any game action this year, unless L.A.’s starting quarterback(s) go down.

“ One day before training camp begins, the Los Angeles Rams reached an agreement with first-round draft pick Ty Simpson.
The quarterback will sign a four-year rookie contract worth $25.4 million, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Selected No. 13 overall in the 2026 NFL Draft Simpson will receive a $14.94 million signing bonus.

“However, with Stafford not taking reps, the battle for the backup quarterback job took center stage and the Rams got a close look at rookie Ty Simpson. On Sunday, Stu Jackson of TheRams.com reported that it was Bennett stepping up to lead the first-team offense while Simpson slid into the backup role.
“I’m encouraged,” said offensive coordinator Nate Scheelhaase. “I appreciate the way that he works as much as anything. And I think anytime you’ve got that mindset, you’re going to continue to grow each time that you’re out there. And so, I like where he’s at, like the opportunity that he’s going to get to just continue to grow in this camp.”

“Sunday marked the Rams’ first day of training camp at Loyola Marymount University, an opportunity for the entire team to get together and practice what football is all about: 11-on-11, the best on offense going against the best on defense. And after that first day, one theme echoed through the noise: The Rams have a bevy of veteran leaders in all three facets of the game that can help teach the younger players.

Let’s start with two-time Super Bowl Champions McDuffie and Watson.
“They’re true pros,” defensive coordinator Chris Shula said of his new cornerbacks. “They bring a great perspective to the room. Leadership is influence.”
