The New York Rangers are not willing to trade every player on their roster.
While Vincent Trocheck is reportedly garnering a lot of interest from opposing teams, the Rangers are not interested in moving him by any means.
“The most coveted Ranger is undoubtedly Vincent Trocheck,” Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman wrote. “But they aren’t interested in doing that, and, listening to his comments lately, you could see them making him captain.”
Since the Rangers traded former captain Jacob Trouba to the Anaheim Ducks, Trocheck has stepped up as a leader.
He’s always the one speaking to the media following games whether the team wins or loses and is unafraid to say what needs to be said.
It’s clear to everybody around the organization that Trocheck is the unofficial captain and it’s only a matter of time before he is rewarded with the captaincy.
For all the players mentioned in trade rumors between Chris Kreider, Mika Zibanejad and Ryan Lindgren, Trocheck’s name has not been mentioned, and it’s no coincidence.
The 31-year-old forward is in New York to stay and he should soon get a leadership promotion.
