Georgia’s first true test of the 2026 campaign will come against the Oklahoma Sooners in Athens on Sept. 26. The Sooners could enter the matchup as a top-10 team, as the Dawgs’ offense will need to perform at an extremely high level against an elite Oklahoma defensive unit.

Vaught-Hemingway Stadium has proven on a number of occasions to be an extremely tough environment for any opposing team to play in throughout the past few seasons. Ole Miss Rebels quarterback Trinidad Chambliss is expected to return to the Rebels in 2026. The Dawgs will need to limit the talented signal-caller both on the ground and through the air as much as possible.
The matchup could quickly prove to come at a pivotal point in both teams’ seasons as well, as a win on the road in Oxford would be massive for the Dawgs throughout the final stretch of conference play. Georgia is looking to get revenge for their loss to Ole Miss in the Sugar Bowl.
