The Washington Mystics defeated the Atlanta Dream on Sunday, SDFDSFDSFSD at the Gateway Center. It snaps a combined 11 game losing streak (10 to finish the 2025 regular season and one preseason game) Washington had. Their last win was on Aug. 17, 2025 when they defeated the Los Angeles Sparks in the regular season.
The outcome of this game was in doubt for the first half with the Mystics and Dream trading off single digit leads. Atlanta led 44-42 at the half. But Washington broke through in the third quarter when they held the Dream to 20 percent shooting, outscoring them 22-11. Sure, the Dream rested their entire starting lineup from this point forward, but the Mystics were playing their starters for much of it and took care of business. The last quarter was just the benches of both teams for the most part, though Cotie McMahon did score all 9 of her points in that period.

Lauren Betts led the Mystics with 17 points, all in the first three quarters. For the Dream, Angel Reese led with 10 points.
The Mystics are off until Friday, when they begin the regular season on the road against the Toronto Tempo. Tipoff is at 7:30 p.m. ET. See you then.
