A potential Yankees target is now off the board with the Cincinnati Reds acquiring infielder Gavin Lux in a trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to multiple reports.
Earlier in the day, Passan reported that New York, looking for infield help, had reached out to Los Angeles about Lux who has spent his entire career with the Dodgers, mostly as a second baseman.
Instead, Lux will be joining Cincinnati who sent Los Angeles a Competitive Balance Round A pick (around No. 37) and outfield prospect Mike Sirota, the No. 14 prospect in the Reds’ system.
Meanwhile, after continuing to discuss a trade with the San Diego Padres for infielder Luis Arraez, the New York Post’s Jon Heyman reports that the Yankees, at least for now, are not considered a fit for the three-time batting champion.
