The Chicago Tribune’s Brad Biggs reported today that the Chicago Bears were signing 27-year-old defensive tackle James Lynch.
The 6’4”, 295-pound Lynch was originally a fourth-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings in 2020 after playing his college ball at Baylor. He was in Minnesota until 2024, but missed all of 2023 with a knee injury and was waived before the 2024 season started. The Tennessee Titans signed him to their practice squad a couple of days later, and he was elevated for their week one game in Chicago. He was signed to their active roster shortly after and appeared in all 17 games. He also played in all 17 of the Titans’ games in 2025, and over his 5-year career, he has 4 starts in 71 games, totaling 98 tackles, 7 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, 7 QB hits, 3 passes defended, and a fumble recovery.

Much like the Kentavius Street signing, this is a bottom-of-the-depth-chart pickup that won’t impact what they look to do in the NFL Draft.
