Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez wants a long-term deal, and the Patriots want to sign him to a long-term deal. He shares an agent with Seahawks cornerback Devon Witherspoon, though, and Ian Rapoport reports that Witherspoon is “further along” in talks.
The Seahawks have offered a deal that would pay Witherspoon “upwards of $30 million” annually, per Rapoport. That would make Witherspoon among the highest-paid cornerbacks in the league.

Rams cornerback Trent McDuffie is at the top of the market at the position with an annual average of $31 million. Indianapolis‘ Sauce Gardner and Houston‘s Derek Stingley Jr. are at $30 million annually.
Gonzalez, who is scheduled to make $2.259 million this season, won’t be far behind Witherspoon in getting a new deal.
The 17th overall pick in 2023 made second-team All-Pro in 2024 and the Pro Bowl in 2025. He has totaled 145 tackles, two interceptions, 24 pass breakups and a sack in three seasons.
