The Jets are looking for a General Manager, and they have no limitation on speaking to candidates who aren’t currently connected to any teams.
Via Adam Schefter of ESPN.com, the Jets will interview former Titans G.M. Jon Robinson and ESPN analyst Louis Riddick.
ESPN analyst Mike Tannenbaum, and former Jets G.M., Mike Tannenbaum is assisting the team with its search through his separate business, The 33rd Team.
The Jets, per the report, haven’t decided to hire a G.M. before a coach or a coach before a G.M. They will interview other candidates for the G.M. job beyond Robinson and Riddick.
The article from ESPN.com touts Robinson by pointing out that he drafted running back Derrick Henry and receiver A.J. Brown. It fails to mention that Robinson also traded A.J. Brown in lieu of giving him a second contract for a first-round pick that became receiver Treylon Burks. In three seasons, Burks has been a major disappointment, with 53 career catches for 699 yards and one touchdown.
Riddick is a former front-office employee who has interviewed for multiple G.M. vacancies without receiving an offer.
Jets owner Woody Johnson fired both coach Robert Saleh and G.M. Joe Douglas during a disastrous 3-10 season.
