Jan. 19—WILLMAR — The Rochester Community and Technical College women’s basketball team continued its streak of domination with a win over Ridgewater College on the road on Saturday afternoon.
The No. 1 Division III junior college-ranked Yellowjackets extended their win streak to nine, handling Ridgewater 90-50.
Macaya Copeland notched a team-high 20 points through 23 minutes of action with five assists, four rebounds and four steals. Allana Bates tallied 12 points, six rebounds and three assists. Kara Goetzinger also had 12 points with four rebounds.
The Yellowjackets were 2-for-2 from the free-throw line and shot 48.7% from the field. Ridgewater scored just five points in the second quarter.
RCTC will face No. 3 Minnesota West Community & Technical College on the road at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22 in a matchup of two top-three teams. The Yellowjackets are 13-3 overall and 2-0 in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference.
“Great team effort on the road,” RCTC women’s head coach Jason Bonde said. “Our conference is the toughest in the country and this is a matchup with the last two national champions and we have both beat each other. This is the best two teams in the country. The last three years.”
