Rodrigo Vera met the media Saturday after his win over Kangjie Zhu at UFC Fight Night 277.
Vera (22-1-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) didn’t need long at all to take care of Zhu (21-5 MMA, 0-1 UFC) on the prelims at Galaxy Macau. Vera knocked out Zhu in less than two minutes, giving the Chinese fans their first of many disappointing results for home-country fighters.

Vera came in with a fantastic backstory: He tried out for the upcoming season of “The Ultimate Fighter,” but got passed over. So instead of being on the show, Vera just fast-tracked things for himself.
He said the featherweight division needs to be alerted that he’s arrived.
“It’s a really good welcome, but to the division, be ready,” Vera told the UFC after the win. “I’m coming to get what I deserve.”
