Alabama had an impressive game against Wisconsin on Saturday, winning 38-14 inside Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
There were many standout players on the day, but these are Roll Tide Wire’s players of the game.

The Crimson Tide are going to continue to need major contributions from these players as they approach SEC play.
The Crimson Tide get a bye week, and then play Georgia on Saturday, Sept. 27. Hopefully the Crimson Tide can continue their two-game winning streak.
Offense: Ty Simpson, Quarterback
Ty was absolutely masterful Saturday, and demonstrated the type of quarterback he can be for Alabama. Ty went for 24-of-29 with 382 yards, four touchdowns, and no interceptions. He was both prolific and efficient on Saturday. Ty fits the offense well, he makes good decisions, and is very accurate. His timing is impeccable in the pocket and and he hits receivers in stride, allowing them to pick up more yards. I only expect Ty to get better in this offense. If he can stay upright, there’s no way he can’t win games from the pocket. Right now he is one of the most accurate QBs in the country. Everything he does is very smooth, textbook, and clinical. I can’t wait to see him evolve as a quarterback, as he can get that much better in Ryan Grubb’s system.

Offense: WR Ryan Williams, Wide Receiver
Ryan had an electric game vs. Wisconsin. He had five receptions for 165 yards and two touchdowns. It was great to see Williams integrated in the offense, after coming back from an injury. Williams gives the offense a big play dynamic, that defenses have to respect. He had a long 75-yard touchdown, which is an unusual stat for a wide receiver, but not for Williams. He stretches the field, and also can take shorter passes and turn them into long touchdowns. The game he played, was just what Bama needed. He only had had five receptions, but gained 165 yards and two scores, and nearly had a third. He is very productive with his touches, and fits well with Grubb and Simpson. He is a home run threat on every route, which means he can open up the offense for other receivers. He is not a player that can be defended at the collegiate level. He will make his contribution by scoring touchdowns and drawing attention, so other wide receivers can be prolific too. It is great to see him build chemistry with Ty Simpson.
Defense: Bray Hubbard, Safety
Bray Hubbard recorded two interceptions Saturday, along with five tackles/three solo. He was very active in the game, not just on the interceptions, but coming up in run support. Bray flies around, making tackles, but also swarming running backs, forcing them to redirect. He had two key interceptions on Saturday, showing his ability to cover and react. On one of the interceptions, he stayed at home, anticipating a poor decision, and was in the right place at the right time. Hubbard is another big, physical hybrid style player on the defense. He is built like a linebacker at 6’2 213 lbs. He is also effective in coverage, showing good instincts and decision making. Another player who fits Kane Wommack’s 4-2-5 swarm defense.

Special Teams: Blake Doud, Punter
Blake Doud was only forced to punt twice on Saturday. He had 49 and 42 yard punts, for an average of 45.5 yards. Doud is one of the best punters in the country, averaging 47 yards per punt on the season. Doud is 6’5 and kicks booming punts, with high altitude that makes it hard for the opposing team to return. On the season, only one of his punts has been returned, and it was for three yards. This is an impressive statistic, that allows Alabama to maintain good field position.
