Roman Mityukov Matches Swiss 100 Back Record In Uster; Ponti Flies To Victory
Roman Mityukov matched his Swiss 100 back record and Noè Ponti was in familiar territory atop the podium on the first day of the National Championships in Uster.
Mityukov, the Olympic silver medallist over 200m in Paris two years ago posted 53.32 on the leadoff for Genève Natation in the club medley relay to equal his time at the 2023 worlds in Fukuoka.
Ponti flew to a 22.96 victory in the 50 fly – in which he won silver at the 2025 worlds – to easily crack the limit for the European Championships in Paris as did Robin Yeboah in second.
Gaia Rasmussen won the women’s race in 26.78 as well as adding the 200 free in 2:02.07.
Timo Sorgius was inside the Paris QT in the men’s 200 free in 1:47.07 ahead of Balint Ashton (1:48.27) and Mattia Mauri (1:48.38) who secured the other medals and qualification for the European Championships.
Kay-Lyn Löhr won the women’s 100 breast in 1:08.39 to book a ticket for Paris with Gian-Luc Gartmann edging Antoine Viquerat by the narrowest of margins in 1:01.06 to 1:01.07.
