The Kansas City Royals were perfect from the plate on Monday afternoon.
The Royals rolled to a dominant 15-1 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Monday at Kauffman Stadium, which wrapped up their three-game series. The Royals, who entered the game with the second-worst record in the league, scored a run in every single inning they were at the plate in the win.

Kansas City put up a season-high 15 runs on 22 hits in the contest. It marked just the second time in franchise history in which the Royals have scored at least one run in every inning they were at the plate. According to MLB.com’s Sarah Langs, the Royals are the first team in the league to pull off that feat since the Chicago White Sox in 2016.
The Royals have now gone nine straight innings scoring at least one run, too, dating back to Sunday’s 5-2 win over the Phillies. That’s the longest streak in franchise history, too, snapping a mark set back in 1998.
Phillies starter Christopher Sanchez gave up a career-worst nine runs in his start on Monday, six of which came in the first inning. The Royals, thanks largely to a three-run homer from Luke Maile, were up 6-1 almost immediately on Sunday. The at-bat was Maile’s first of the season, too.
Salvador Perez hit a solo home run in the second for the Royals to add to their lead. It marked the 314th of his career. Kansas City then added one run in the next four innings before putting up two in each of the final frames. Jac Caglianone hit an RBI single in each of the last two innings. Tyler Tolbert had five hits in the win, too, which was a career-first for him and the first time a Royals player has done so since 2022.

The Phillies got on the board in the first inning after Alec Bohm hit an RBI double. They had at least one baserunner in every inning after that, too, but did not score. Star Kyle Schwarber was ejected in the sixth inning, too, after getting into it with the umpire after a checked swing.
The loss dropped the Phillies to 50-41 on the season. They sit in second in the NL East standings, and will open a series with teh Cincinnati Reds next on Tuesday.
The Royals, despite their dominant outing, are still in last in the AL Central at 37-54 on the season. They’ve lost eight of their last 11, too.
Though they’ve still got a long way to go to even get into the postseason conversation, the Royals clearly are still a very solid offensive team. They more than proved that on Monday.
