Russell Wilson, Bobby Wagner, Tyler Lockett among notable free agent ex-Seahawks

The exciting part of NFL free agency is long over, with most teams getting their business done within the first week of the league year. Focus is on the NFL Draft in less than a month, with any free agent signed on the Monday after the draft no longer counting in the compensatory pick formula.

For the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks, everyone who entered this offseason as a free agent is now accounted for, so there’s really not much more you should expect from them over the next few months. There are, however, a lot of familiar unsigned former Seahawks on the market, ranging from recent depth pieces to franchise legends who were key to Seattle’s first Super Bowl win.

Exempting the likes of Quandre Diggs and Shaquill Griffin, who were on the Seahawks practice squad before it was dissolved, here are the “outside free agent former Seahawks” still looking for a new team… we assume.

Unsigned former Seattle Seahawks free agents

  • QB Russell Wilson (last 2025 team: New York Giants)

  • LB Bobby Wagner (last 2025 team: Washington Commanders)

  • WR Tyler Lockett (last 2025 team: Las Vegas Raiders)

  • OLB Jadeveon Clowney (last 2025 team: Dallas Cowboys)

  • CB Artie Burns (last 2025 team: Miami Dolphins)

  • OL Germain Ifedi (last 2025 team: Miami Dolphins)

  • WR Dee Eskridge (last 2025 team: Miami Dolphins)

  • OL George Fant (last 2025 team: Washington Commanders)

  • CB Tre Flowers (last 2025 team: Pittsburgh Steelers)

  • CB Ugo Amadi (last 2025 team: New Orleans Saints)

  • TE Will Dissly (last 2025 team: Los Angeles Chargers)

  • OL Ethan Pocic (last 2025 team: Cleveland Browns)

  • LB Jamal Adams (last 2025 team: Las Vegas Raiders)

  • LB Jerome Baker (last 2025 team: Cleveland Browns)

  • LB Jon Rhattigan (last 2025 team: Las Vegas Raiders)

  • TE Nick Vannett (last 2025 team: Los Angeles Rams)

  • S Rayshawn Jenkins (last 2025 team: Cleveland Browns)

  • DL Shelby Harris (last 2025 team: Cleveland Browns)

  • OL Jake Curhan (last 2025 team: Carolina Panthers)

Wilson and Wagner were two of the cornerstones of Seattle’s first Super Bowl title. Wagner is certainly going into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the waters have become much murkier for Russ, but they’re both bare minimum in the Seahawks Ring of Honor at some point in time. Another season for Bobby would put him on course to be the NFL’s all-time tackles leader, so why wouldn’t he give it one last season? Wilson doesn’t seem to be thinking about retirement, but this is the first time in his career he’s clearly not in real consideration to be a starting QB anymore.

Lockett has had the brutal misfortune of being drafted after Seattle’s Super Bowl loss to the New England Patriots and getting let go before Seattle’s Super Bowl return and subsequent triumph. Add him to the list of future Ring of Honor members, hopefully. Perhaps Lockett’s next contract is a 1-day to retire as one of the great Seahawks in franchise history.

Jadeveon Clowney would probably be the most realistic potential reunion given past ties to Mike Macdonald when they were with the Baltimore Ravens, with whom Clowney had his career-best season. Given the loss of Boye Mafe in free agency, maybe the 33-year-old Clowney has a chance to be a cheap rotational edge rusher who can also defend the run.

Lastly, and speaking of notable former Seahawks defensive players acquired in a trade, I should acknowledge that Jamal Adams played all 17 games for the Raiders this past season. While he only played 448 total snaps in his first season as a linebacker, it’s at least good for him personally to go the distance after so many injuries over the past few years.
