Sabres Star Linked To Big Division Rival

In his most recent 32 Thoughts column, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman reported that the Detroit Red Wings have expressed interest in Cozens.

Friedman wrote:

“I believe the Buffalo player the Red Wings were (are?) looking at is Dylan Cozens.”

When looking at the Red Wings’ lineup, it is easy to understand why they would have a player like Cozens on their radar. They certainly could use another top-six center to help them take that next step, so it makes sense that Cozens would grab their attention.

However, as the Red Wings are one of the Sabres’ top division rivals, trading Cozens there would undoubtedly come with serious risk. This is especially true given that the Red Wings are in a similar position to the Sabres, a struggling team looking to break through finally.

Even with this being the case, it will be interesting to see if the Red Wings’ interest in Cozens leads to them making a more significant push for him from here.
