Schloesser, Gibson break 25-metre world records in Chicago warm-up

by

Compound world number ones Mike Schloesser and Ella Gibson posted a pair of 25-metre world records as they arrived early in Chicago ahead of this weekend’s Indoor Archery World Series event.

Schloesser shot 597, Gibson scored 592 over the 60-arrow round at the Centennial 600.

Subject to ratification, the results beat the previous men’s record of 596 and women’s score of 588.

Most indoor competitions, including all six legs of the Indoor Archery World Series, take place over the standard 18-metre distance, making the longer indoor round harder to come by for the world’s elite. The 18-metre round is shot with 40-centimetre-diameter target faces and the 25-metre round with 60.

Schloesser and Gibson will be looking to repeat their form from this warm-up on Friday at The Great Chicago Open.
