Tennessee (29-7) and Kentucky (24-11) basketball will play for a 242nd time on Friday. Friday’s contest will be the first in the NCAA Tournament between the Vols and Wildcats during the all time men’s basketball series.

Kentucky leads the series against Tennessee, 163-78, dating to Feb. 16, 1910. The Wildcats have won three straight games against Tennessee, including two victories during the 2024-25 regular season.

Kentucky defeated the Vols, 78-73, on Jan. 28 at Food City Center. The second contest was a, 75-64, win for the Wildcats over Tennessee at Rupp Arena on Feb. 11.

The winner between Tennessee and Kentucky will advance to the Elite Eight against either No. 1 seed Houston or No. 4 seed Purdue. The Vols are a No. 2 seed and Kentucky is a No. 3 seed in the Midwest Region.
