“Screw It”: Chicago Sky Veteran Reveals Team’s Mindset After Brutal Fever Loss originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
There weren’t too many bright spots from the Chicago Sky’s disappointing loss to the Indiana Fever on Sunday, as the Sky fell to 0-3 against their biggest rivals this season. It also marked Chicago’s fifth consecutive loss, which has now put them at a 7-18 record.

Rachel Banham Comes Up Big for Sky
One of the highlights for the Sky was Rachel Banham’s offensive explosion against Indiana. The 5-foot-10 guard went off for a season-high 26 points on 8-of-15 shooting, to go along with six three-pointers, one rebound, five assists and a block in 36 minutes of action.
The 32-year-old veteran spoke to reporters after the game, and she heaped praise on how the team played with a lot of aggression in the loss.
“We shared the ball really well and everyone was super aggressive,” she said. “When everyone’s scoring and being aggressive, it’s hard to guard us.”

Banham then shared the type of mindset she played with on Sunday, which is something she wants the rest of the squad to imbibe.
“I felt like, we kind of were just like, ‘Screw it,'” she continued. “There’s no better way to say it, sorry. I was going to say something else.
“… We have nothing to lose. I mean, just play at this point. Go out there, have fun, let it fly and let it land how it’s gonna.”
This is quickly becoming another wasted season for the Sky. After Sunday’s loss, they remain 11th in the league and are now 5.0 games behind the Washington Mystics for the eighth and final playoff spot in the WNBA.

As Banham expressed, however, there’s nothing to lose for Chicago at this point in the season. It’s not that she’s taking a defeatist attitude here; it’s actually the contrary. The vet is now calling on her teammates to continue playing with an aggressive mindset, regardless of their standing.
