Since the men’s college basketball season came to a close, the Texas Longhorns have been one of the busiest teams in the transfer portal. While head coach Sean Miller has cast a wide net for talent, he has also brought in a few familiar faces, including Dailyn Swain. The talented guard entered the portal after a productive run at Xavier.
During the 2024-2025 campaign, Swain averaged 11 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. The Columbus native shot 53.2 percent from the field and continued improving as the minutes increased. His play stood out to Miller, who is happy to have Swain with him in Austin.

“He does a lot of different things — his rise on the court stems from his versatility,” Miller said in a May 22 interview with Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.” Some of it is that Dailyn has a great attitude, he’s very intelligent, plays the game to win it. And I think when you are rooted in that right there, it allows you to continue to improve.”
In his last season with Xavier, Swain showed there was more to his game offensively. He was more aggressive with the ball in his hands and thrived in tournament play. However, Miller believes there is more to his game.
“Everybody is looking at his shooting, and I definitely believe he can make a jump this season in taking more threes and making more,” Miller said. “If you look at his free throw percentage, he’s one of the leading free throw shooters in the Big East last year from start to finish. I think that’s a really good sign of things to come for him as he continues to expand his game.”

While fans still have to wait a few months for his Longhorns debut, Miller knows what he is getting in Swain and has high expectations for what the future holds.
