Sean Strickland wants to settle the score with Belal Muhammad in a battle of former UFC champions.
One fight removed from falling short to Dricus Du Plessis in a middleweight title rematch in February, Strickland is setting his sights on a grudge match with Muhammad, who lost his welterweight title to Jack Della Maddalena at UFC 315 this month.
The back-and-forth between Strickland (29-7 MMA, 16-7 UFC) and Muhammad (24-4 MMA, 15-4 UFC) has gone on for well over a year. Now with both men having no attachment to a divisional belt, he suggests Muhammad meet him at 185 pounds to fight out their beef.
“Belal would be a fun fight,” Strickland told Helen Yee. “That would be a fun one. Sack up, dog. This is it. You can sack the f*ck up, dude. All the sh*t you talked. We can finally make it happen. Lost your belt. You kinda got f*cked up. I kinda got f*cked up. We should make that fight happen, Belal.”
There’s been rumors of Strickland’s next fight being a rematch with Israel Adesanya. He also confirmed he mutually declined a matchup with Caio Borralho.
For Strickland, he thinks the fight against Muhammad is the most logical next step for both, and dared Muhammad to accept.
“All that sh*t he talks on the Instagram like, ‘I’m going to fight you, I’m going to this, I’m going to come down that.’ – now you can you f*cking pussy,” Strickland said. “Do it for Palestine. I love that fight. That would be a good one. That would be a fun one.”
