
The Florida Gators are preparing for their season opener against Long Island on August 30, but before then, they are making sure to cover their bases in recruiting.
Florida head coach Billy Napier comes into year four with the program and has a 19-19 overall record. He just set a new high mark for wins in a season during his time in Gainesville, following the Gators’ 8-5 finish to 2024.

After securing back-to-back top 10 recruiting classes in 2024 and 2025 via On3 Sports, Napier is keeping tabs on one of the best recruits in the 2028 class. Brysen Wright was named the top recruit in the cycle on Monday, and the Gators are in the lead.

Wright is not only the No. 1 wideout for his class, but is also the top overall recruit on Rivals. He is a native of Jacksonville, Florida, and attends Mandarin High School.
The Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine has Florida (21.9%) in the lead, followed by the Florida State Seminoles (19.2%), Georgia Bulldogs (16.5%) and Ohio State Buckeyes (13.7%).

The Gators are one of the schools Wright has visited, hosting him for an unofficial visit in November of 2024. Ohio State is Wright’s most recent visit, as he was in Columbus on June 10.
The program has been busy with recruiting lately, as Texas Longhorns commit James Johnson revealed he will visit Florida in the fall. However, the Gators are also trying to keep other programs from taking their commits.
Florida commit Tyler Chukuyem revealed he will be visiting Athens during the 2025 season.
