Real Madrid’s season came to an abrupt end after a quarterfinal playoff defeat to La Laguna Tenerife, prompting longtime captain Sergio Llull to publicly address the club’s supporters.

In a post on X, the veteran guard acknowledged Tenerife’s achievement and praised the opponent for earning its place in the next round.

“Congratulations to Tenerife for reaching the semifinals, fully deserved,” Llull wrote.

He also expressed disappointment over Real Madrid’s overall performance during the campaign, admitting the team failed to meet the expectations associated with representing one of Europe’s most successful basketball organizations.

“A season to forget for us. My apologies, Madridistas. We have not lived up to the demands and responsibility that come with defending this crest. Thank you for your support throughout the year! Hala Madrid always!” he added.

The elimination closes another chapter in Llull’s remarkable career with Real Madrid Baloncesto.

The 38-year-old completed his 19th season with the club and continued to provide valuable experience and leadership despite a reduced role.

In domestic competition, Llull averaged 6.9 points, 2.4 assists, and 1.3 rebounds per game.

He also contributed during Real Madrid’s run to the EuroLeague final, posting 3.1 points and 1.5 assists per contest.
