Jefferson tight end Edward Whiting (8) gets tackled by Harrisburg defense on Friday, Oct. 11, 2024, at Harrisburg High School in Harrisburg, South Dakota.

Sioux Falls Jefferson class of 2026 tight end Eddie Whiting announced his commitment to Michigan State on social media Saturday morning. Whiting has been viewed as one of the top prospects in the state.

The junior committed to Michigan State over scholarship offers from UCLA, Alabama, Auburn, Washington State, Iowa State, South Dakota State, Minnesota and more.

Whiting, a standout player for Jefferson, was a key contributor to the Cavaliers’ success last season. Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 230 pounds, Whiting has been a dominant force on the field.

In 10 games, he recorded nine tackles, three sacks, and 29 receptions for 383 yards, averaging 47.88 yards per game. His combination of size, speed, and hands has made him a tough matchup for opposing defenses, and his ability to block and make plays in the passing game has been a significant asset to his team.
