Social media reacts to 2027 4-star quarterback Teddy Jarrard committing to Notre Dame

by

Notre Dame football got a commitment from its quarterback of the future on Thursday afternoon, as 2027 Georgia 4-star Teddy Jarrard opted for the Blue and Gold.

The Irish have the luxury of looking ahead, as its 2026 class is virtually full with twenty-six current commitments. There are now three verbals in the 2027 cycle, one each on offense, defense and special teams. It’s a fantastic base to work off, and with the most important player checked off, Notre Dame’s coach staff can now turn its focus to the other positions in the class.

It was a big development for the Irish, and social media acted accordingly. There were numerous post about how huge this was for Notre Dame, and check out the best reactions to Jarrard committing below.

Massive recruiting win

With Jarrard’s commitment, there are now just a handful of top quarterbacks off the board in the 2027 cycle, which gives each of those teams, including Notre Dame a leg up no the remaining prospects in the class. The Irish were able to go into SEC enemy territory and pull out a recruiting win, which not many teams are able to do.

Jarrard’s stock set to rise?

We’ve all seen plenty of recruits getting an SEC-bump, but there could be a significant rise in the rankings in the near future for Jarrard. He’s done extremely well in the camp circuit this spring and summer, and many have taken notice.

Top-50 overall player according to Tom Lemming

One of the original recruiting guru’s, Lemming has seen it all and if he says that Jarrad is a top-50 prospect, then most likely he is. While his current recruiting ranking doesn’t reflect that, like Power said above, a significant jump could be in the works. Lemming gives a great breakdown of his skill set, and one that should be getting Notre Dame fans very excited.

An interesting comparison

I haven’t gotten a chance to take a dive into Jarrard’s film, which I will do tonight, but comparing him to CJ Carr is very interesting. We haven’t seen any of the expected Irish starting quarterback at this level, but we are talking about a guy that should be starting in year-two in the program. I don’t think many would be complaining if that was the case with Jarrard as well.

The gamble payed off for Notre Dame

Many, including myself, were concerned that Notre Dame had only offered two quarterback in 2027, but all of us worriers were proven wrong. You just need one to commit, and the Irish got a great one in Jarrard. Beating out multiple other College Football Playoff teams is icing on the cake.

The traits are elite

There is one thing that I’ve noticed when evaluating high school quarterback prospects is that if they are accurate at that level, they will be at the next. It’s one of the hardest aspects of the position to teach, and if a player shows those traits early on, most likely they aren’t going anywhere. Jarrard completing over 70% of his attempts at a sophomore is exceptional, and we can expect the same when he arrives in South Bend.

The moment Jarrard went Irish

A magical moment for Jarrard and Notre Dame, as the two matched up extremely well and will be together in the coming seasons. It’s the culmination of many years of hard work, and the recruits should enjoy the moment, which is exactly what happened.
