Oregon football fans who may have wanted presale tickets to the Rose Bowl are scrambling for other options after the Ducks‘ allotment of tickets for the College Football Playoff game sold out in under four hours Wednesday.
Because the officials who organized the ticket allocation did not place a maximum on the number of tickets individual fans could buy, fans early in the presale window were able to buy as many tickets as they wanted. This left a bevy of season-ticket holders in later presale windows without the opportunity to buy tickets, instead being told that Oregon had sold out its allotment.
Some fans are saying on social media that ticket scalpers and fans looking to make a profit used that opportunity to purchase extra tickets and sell them on the secondary market.
StubHub lists “get-in” tickets as low as $310 for nosebleeds, with prices as high as $750 on the 50-yard-line.

A University of Oregon spokesperson told The Oregonian Thursday that ticket allotment officials “always scrub for ticket brokers and, where identifiable, revoke tickets.” The official also told The Oregonian that the officials have used the same process for the last 10 years for postseason games, including the no-limit purchase policy.
The officials said they would work with the Rose Bowl to secure more tickets for season-ticket holders who weren’t able to buy tickets in the presale Wednesday.
