The Oklahoma Sooners are well underway when it comes to building their 2027 recruiting class, and they’ve even got the first building block of their 2028 class in running back Micah Rhodes out of Klein, Texas, who committed to OU on Thursday night.
On Friday night, the Sooners visited and offered a three-star, in-state prospect in the 2027 class, who they may not want to see leave their own backyard. Oklahoma extended an offer to Broken Bow athlete Greydon Howell, with wide receivers coach Emmett Jones coming to visit Miller in his house on Friday.

Howell is one of the most versatile athletes in the entire ’27 class, and he plays football, basketball, baseball, and runs track. He’s a player who can play quarterback, running back, wide receiver, and defensive back on the gridiron, and he has been an absolute stud for the Savages. He’s currently ranked as On3’s No. 13 player in the state of Oklahoma, and he had 47 total touchdowns and over 4,000 yards of total offense as a junior.
Despite standing at just 5-foot-11, and weighing in at 170 pounds, Howell’s versatility and athleticism make him someone that power conference programs like Miami, Auburn, Arkansas, and Oklahoma State also want. With Jones being the coach that gave Howell the offer, perhaps that a hint that the Sooners see him as a wide receiver at the college level, but if you watch him play, there’s no question that the lefty can sling the rock as well.
While the Sooners have honed in on Saraland, Alabama’s Jamison Roberts as their top choice at QB in the ’27 class, pairing him with a dynamic weapon like Howell at WR would be something that Sooner Nation would love to see. Additionally, landing a local product with the ability to play multiple sports and line up at multiple positions would bring a home run hitter to Norman from just up the road.
