Sophie Cunningham‘s health and availability have been major concerns for the Indiana Fever over the past few days. The veteran guard, who is averaging 9.6 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists this season, missed the team’s practices on Tuesday and Wednesday due to an undisclosed illness
Considering that Caitlin Clark is also currently injured and not practicing with the team, another health issue was the last thing the Fever needed.

Fortunately, after the Fever rested on Thursday, Cunningham was able to rejoin the team during Friday’s practice. She also shared an update about her condition, admitting that she’s recovering but not yet at full health.

“Well, it was not like I was on vacation,” Cunningham, displaying her usual sense of humor, responded when asked how she’s feeling after a few days away from the team, per Tony East of The IX Sports. “I was rotting in my bed.”
She added, “I feel better. Just kind of waiting for my energy and this headache to kind of go away a little bit. But I’m here, and so that’s great.”

The Fever will play the Las Vegas Aces on Sunday, so Cunningham still has one day to fully rest and recuperate.
Indiana won’t be with Clark again after the All-Star playmaker confirmed that she will not play against the Aces due to her back injury. That being said, Cunningham’s presence will be vital once again, as the Fever look to build on their recent momentum.
During their previous game against the Los Angeles Sparks, which Clark missed, Cunningham recorded nine points, two rebounds, one assist and one steal off the bench.
