Sophie Cunningham Claims WNBA Teams Are ‘Lying’ With Bold Indiana Fever Statement originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

Sophie Cunningham wasn’t exactly an unfamiliar name when she joined the Indiana Fever as an offseason recruit. After all, this year is her 7th year in the WNBA. There’s no denying, however, that her popularity jumped significantly over the course of the season.

A testament to this fact is how Cunningham recently eclipsed 1 million followers on TikTok. This came shortly after she was ejected from the Connecticut Sun game on June 17 for allegedly retaliating on behalf of Caitlin Clark.

Cunningham has nothing but love for the Fever faithful, too. In fact, the veteran guard recently made a bold statement about how she firmly believes that Fever fans are unlike any other set of supporters in the entire league.

“I think we have the best fans in the whole W, and I know every team says that, but they’re lying because I’m telling the truth,” she said. “We have to protect our homecourt and when we can fire up these fans they’re feisty, they’re sassy, they’re kinda just like me.”
