As Sophie Cunningham enters her eighth WNBA season, the former Missouri Tiger continues to expand her media profile. Cunningham announced on Instagram Tuesday night that she’s joining USA Network as a contributor to studio coverage during the 2026 WNBA season.
Cunningham’s role with the network’s WNBA coverage will be similar to Draymond Green’s past role with TNT and Caitlin Clark with NBC—both active players who also serve as broadcasters in varying capacities as their schedules permit.

Last September, USA Sports reached an 11-year media rights agreement with the WNBA to televise at least 50 games per season, including select postseason games. In that deal, the network will broadcast a pair of marquee games on Wednesday nights.
Cunningham was traded to the Indiana Fever last season, where she averaged 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game on 46.9% shooting from the field, 43.2% from 3-point territory, and 87.5% from the free-throw line across 13 starts in 30 games played. However, her 2025 campaign was cut short by an MCL tear in mid-August.
Cunningham is comfortable on camera and has previously done on-air work for Phoenix Suns broadcasts during the offseasons of her first six seasons in the league with the Phoenix Mercury from 2019-24.

Last summer, Cunningham launched the “Show Me Something” podcast with hometown friend West Wilson, which discusses various topics inside and outside of the WNBA and has gained nearly 45,000 subscribers on YouTube.
Despite expressing her willingness to remain in Indianapolis with the Fever, Cunningham will certainly have a list of potential suitors as the WNBA free agency negotiation period is now underway. Free agency signings can become official beginning on April 11.
Swiftly following the free agency signing period will be the 2026 WNBA draft on April 13, with training camp opening on April 19 and the league’s 30th regular season opening on May 8.
