Source: Texas A&M is prepared to heavily pursue Florida WR

Texas A&M’s 2026 offseason is in full swing, and head coach Mike Elko is looking to add nearly a dozen players from the transfer portal to make up for the future graduate/NFL Draft departures that will leave several key spots open heading into the spring season.

With the portal set to open on Friday, Elko and his staff have already been linked to a handful of veteran players on both sides of the ball, while the primary focus will be on adding the best available players along the offensive and defensive lines. However, after star wide receiver KC Concepcion officially declared for the 2026 NFL Draft, new offensive coordinator and WR coach Holmon Wiggins will be looking to fill that gap.

Already being heavily connected to Kansas State transfer receiver Jayce Brown and Auburn wideout Malcolm Simmons, another highly intriguing name has entered the conversation. Outside of early rumors, new Florida head coach John Sumrall has been focused on keeping most of the 2025 roster together after quarterback DJ Lagway entered the portal, especially star wide receiver Dallas Wilson.

Injured for most of the year, Wilson appeared in four games, with his best performance coming against the Texas Longhorns, where he hauled in six receptions for 111 yards and two touchdowns.

Primarily an X receiver with the size and speed to wreak havoc along the boundary, Wilson has not entered the portal. Still, according to On3 Florida insider Zach Abolverdi, Texas A&M is prepared to make a significant push for the talented wideout if he enters the portal, and, based on Abolverdi’s recent forum update, Wilson is no longer repped by Excel Sports Management, which has been holding up his NIL contract negotiations.

Abolverdi also noted that, even though those closest to him say he prefers to stay with the Gators, Texas A&M is the only competitor and is preparing to make a “big offer” if Wilson decides to leave Florida.

“There may be interest from others, but A&M is the biggest threat and perhaps the only one. Florida staff members have been in communication with Wilson to keep him in Gainesville and make sure he gets signed.”

Furthermore, Florida recently re-signed wide receiver Vernell Brown III, and while the Gators likely have the funds to keep both wide receivers, that could complicate matters for Wilson.
