South Carolina basketball defeats Lady Vols

No. 3 South Carolina (24-2, 9-1 SEC) defeated No. 17 Tennessee (15-6, 7-2 SEC), 93-50, Sunday at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, South Carolina.

The Gamecocks led, 47-32, at halftime.

Former South Carolina player Talaysia Cooper totaled 17 points to lead the Lady Vols.

She also recorded five rebounds, five assists and thee steals for the Lady Vols, who trailed, 25-18, at the end of the first quarter. Cooper was one of two Lady Vols who scored 10-plus points in the contest against South Carolina. She converted 6-of-17 field goal attempts, 4-of-13 three-point attempts and 1-of-1 free throw attempts.

Janiah Barker recorded 10 points and six rebounds for Tennessee, while Nya Robertson finished with six points and converting 2-of-9 nine field goal attempts and 2-of-9 three-point attempts.

South Carolina’s Ta’Niya Latson led all scorers with 21 points in the contest. She also recorded four steals, one rebound and one assist.
