South Carolina women’s basketball forward Joyce Edwards is one of 21 players who have accepted an invite to the 2025 USA Basketball Women’s AmeriCup Team trials, the organization announced June 9.
The trials are from June 16-19 at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

If selected, Edwards and the USA team will go to Santiago, Chile, for the 2025 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup, which is from June 28-July 6. The winner of the 2025 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup will earn a berth to the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup, set to be held in Berlin, Germany, from Sept. 4-13, 2026.
Edwards is one of nine players on the training camp roster who has already won a gold medal with USA Basketball in some capacity. She won gold on the 2024 USA U18 Women’s National Team and in 2023 on the USA U19 Women’s National Team.
She is also one of six players participating in the trials who played for the USA at the Nike Hoop Summit.
Duke’s Kara Lawson is the coach of this year’s team, with Old Dominion’s DeLisha Milton-Jones and Oklahoma’s Jennie Baranczyk serving as assistants.

On June 23, 2024, Edwards was named Tournament MVP for the the 2024 FIBA U18 Women’s AmeriCup after averaging 14.2 points per game. In the championship game against Canada, Edwards had 16 points, 13 rebounds and five steals.
For coach Dawn Staley and South Carolina, Edwards was the leading scorer for the 2024-25 season as a freshman. Coming off the bench, she averaged 12.7 points and five rebounds per game.
